About Joe
Founder of Rogue Resistance
Experience
I'm Joe, founder of Rogue Resistance. I'm a child of an Asian immigrant, raised in the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon, and I've been involved in political activism since 2002, including immigrant rights protests, mutual aid organizing, and community defense work across the Pacific Northwest. I've participated in protests ranging from 10 people to 10,000, witnessed community response to ICE operations, and seen how grassroots networks keep each other safe when institutions fail.
Why I started Rogue Resistance: In October 2025, I launched this project to create activist merchandise that actually means something - designs that reference real movements, real history, and real community defense tactics.
Personal Connection to This Content
On October 28, 2025, I received notice that my SNAP benefits wouldn't be arriving November 1st - along with 757,000 other Oregonians. That's why I wrote the emergency food assistance guide. This isn't theoretical for me.
I live in Oregon's Rogue Valley (between Ashland and Grants Pass), and I write about the activism, organizing, and community defense I see and participate in.
Background
I have a background in computer science and art, which I use to design merchandise and build this platform. I'm not a lawyer, social worker, or professional organizer - I'm an activist documenting what I learn as I participate in movements for immigrant rights, constitutional defense, and community organizing.
Editorial Standards
Everything I write is:
- Sourced from official government documents, established news outlets, and activist organizations
- Updated when situations change (with timestamps)
- Written from first-hand experience when possible
- Clearly labeled when I'm sharing information vs giving advice
What I'm not: I'm not an attorney, licensed counselor, or credentialed expert. When topics require expertise I don't have, I cite sources from people who do.
What I am:A software engineer and former CTO. I spent 20+ years in tech, including roles as a software engineer, IT director, and CTO at companies ranging from startups to mid-sized firms, to some of the largest game companies in Southern California and the Pacific Northwest. I've built e-commerce platforms, managed development teams, and led digital strategy - which is why I'm running this project solo with print-on-demand instead of outsourcing to agencies. So you can trust when I give advice about technology that it comes from a place of experience.
Why Limited Personal Information?
I use my first name and broad professional background because activist work carries risks. I've seen colleagues doxxed, harassed, and targeted for speaking up. I'm sharing enough to establish credibility without compromising safety.
If you're wondering "why should I trust anonymous Joe?":
- I cite official sources (government docs, established news, credentialed experts)
- I'm transparent about my limitations (not a lawyer, not a social worker)
- I provide contact for corrections (info@rogueresistance.org)
- My work is verifiable - click the sources, check the facts
- I update content when situations change (with timestamps)
Trust the work, not the cult of personality. The information is what matters, not my full resume.
